Parking stickers can be obtained at the Shelter Island Town Clerk's Office located at 38 North Ferry Road during the normal business hours of 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.

For information on Property Auctions and Vehicle Auctions please call 631-749-0600. Auctions are open to the public. All items are sold "as is." All purchases must be paid for in CASH only, plus sales tax. All auctions are held rain or shine. There are no previews of items to be auctioned.

Please call SIPD HQ to see if your vehicle has been impounded by us. You can reach us at 631-749-0600. Please remember that while your vehicle is located in our impound it will be accruing storage and towing charges that must be paid in full before the vehicle is released.

By law, the Office of the Town Attorney acts as the legal advisor to the Town. The role and job of this Office is to give legal advice to the Town Board, town officials, town departments, boards, and committees on governmental matters. As such, the Office of the Town Attorney cannot offer residents and/or taxpayers any legal counsel.

All violations should be reported to the ordinance enforcement officer in the building department. Any criminal activity should be reported to the police.
Please remember that the town may only address violations of the Town Code. Many disputes between neighbors do not involve code violations and should be handled privately. In such cases, you may wish to consult your private attorney.

Any plea must be sent to the Court issuing the ticket as instructed on the ticket or by the issuing officer. If you wish to dispute or plead a parking ticket received on Shelter Island, email Kristina Martin-Majdisova; please include a copy of the ticket and any evidence you wish to have considered by the Town Attorney, with a subject line reading: Parking Ticket Number XXXXX. Evidence may include proof that you have a parking pass or sticker, photographs, or statements.
It is recommended that before you contact the Town Attorney you obtain a valid parking sticker from the Town Clerk's office.

Yes, you now need a permit for both a driveway and/or a driveway apron. The fee is $300.
Please contact Building office if doing a driveway because there are other factors that may come into question.

Yes you need a permit because the generator/HVAC system must conform to setbacks and we need an New York State Board of Fire Underwriter Certificate. The cost is $250 and you can get the regular building permit application under the tab Government.
